More information about Fairview Winemaker's Selection Extrano 2019
The Fairview Winemaker's Selection Extrano presents itself in a beautiful dark red hue in the glass and unfolds wonderful aromas of red berries and plums in the bouquet. Nuances of herbs, tea and cocoa provide the finishing touch. On the palate, plum notes are especially noticeable and the good tannin structure gives the full-bodied red wine a great mouthfeel. The blend of Tempranillo (86%), Carignan (7%), Grenache Noir (6%) and Cinsault (1%) was aged for 24 months in French and American oak and is a delight on its own. Aged cheese or grilled meats are also good choices with the Fairview Winemaker's Selection Extrano. Incidentally, the name means something like "stranger", because the grape varieties are strangers (extrano) in the Cape vineyards, after all, they have their original home in Spain.
