A delicate caramel sweetness meets fruity notes of cherry, plum and raisin. The mouthfeel is velvety smooth, the finish gentle without the typical afterburn. #MASHING PROCESS
In the first step of rum production, sugar cane molasses is processed with water and a special aroma-giving yeast strain to form a mash. During fermentation, the yeast converts the sugar into alcohol and after about 12 to 14 days the alcohol content is about 6%vol alcohol. The later aroma and quality is significantly influenced at this stage by the quality of the molasses, the yeast cultures and the water.
#DISTILLATION
The alcoholic mash is distilled under vacuum. In this complex process, the vacuum in the still reduces the boiling point of the mash and it can be distilled at temperatures as low as around 40 degrees Celsius. Less heat means the fine aromas are preserved in the best possible way.
#REFINING
The sugar cane spirit obtained is refined in a multi-stage aging process. The first step is pre-storage in steel tanks, after which the distillate enters 50-liter oak barrels previously filled with fruit distillates. In the wooden barrels, the rum slowly matures. After about 3 years, a composition of dried fruits is added to the barrels. The result is complex fruit notes, a fine sweetness and a deep red color. Due to the maceration with dried fruits, JagaRoyal belongs to the class of spiced or flavoured rums and has the legal designation of rum spirit.
#USE
To start, JagaRoyal should be enjoyed neat with an orange wedge to get to know its character in all its complexity. In the next step, you can use the JagaRoyal in combination with different fillers or juices for exciting long drinks. Our favorite is 4cl Jaga Royal on ice with freshly squeezed orange juice or passion fruit juice - sweetness kisses sourness. Experienced mixologists recommend JagaRoyal as a base for all kinds of rum cocktails. It gives the creations a deep rum aroma and intense fruitiness. Our favorite cocktail is the Mai Tai Royal: shake 3cl JagaRoyal, 3cl white rum, 2cl Triple Sec, 1cl orgeat or almond syrup, 2cl lime juice and serve on crushed ice.

Jaga Royal GmbH is a young producer of innovative fruit distillates (brand: SissiS) and rum (brand: JagaRoyal) based in Tutzing on Lake Starnberg - in the neighborhood of Possenhofen Castle, where the future Empress Elisabeth of Austria spent her youth. They set out in 2017 to bring fresh momentum to the very traditional fruit distillate market. To do so, they completely revamped the production process.
