The Seleccion Artenom presents a selection of the best tequilas from regionally important distilleries.
The tequilas from the growing areas in the Jalisco region impress with their centuries-old tradition, the individual taste of specially cultivated agaves from different locations and the characteristic distillation technique of the distilleries. The exclusively selected tequilas represent the unique, personal craft of the master distiller: this is how their NAME truly becomes an ART!
"I'm not in the business of making fancy bottles - I'm in the business of making great tequila". This sentence comes from Felipe Camarena, the Master Distiller at Destilería El Pandillo. Here, at an altitude of over 2,000 meters in the remote mountain town of Jesús María, Felipe Camarena produces this light, aromatic tequila from agave plants grown at high altitudes in the agave region around Tequila
Felipe's Destilería El Pandillo is probably one of the most future-oriented, innovative and sustainable distilleries in the industry.
After selective harvesting, the agave plants are slowly roasted in traditional, brick-built brick ovens. The agave hearts, the piñas, are then ground in a tahona - as the heavy stone wheel is called - into a mash, which is fermented together with its fibers. This produces a richer, fuller flavor.
After fermentation, Felipe carefully distils the Seleccion in two stages in small copper pot stills. The distillate has approx. 56% vol. alcohol before it is brought to drinking strength with pure rainwater and a mineral-rich water from our own spring.
